Import tariff

On 17 February 2021, the Chilean Ministry of Public Finance adopted Exempt Decree 36/2021 establishing new applicable discounts on customs duties on wheat and wheat or meslin flour. These discounts will be valid for a two-month period starting from 16 February 2021 until 15 April 2021.

For the case of wheat imports, the applicable discounts increased from USD 136.15 to USD 150.90 per tonne. For the case of wheat or meslin flour imports, the applicable discounts also increased from USD 212.39 to USD 235.41 per tonne. These comparisons are based on the discounts set in December 2020 (see related state act).

According to the Decree, its objective is to establish a “reasonable margin for internal prices to fluctuate in comparison to the international market” (own translation).
