Export licensing requirement

On December 31st, 2020, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce released Announcement 2020/75 (hereafter, 'Announcement'), which promulgated the annual list of goods considered 'dual-use', i.e. able to be used for both military and civilian purposes.

Six product lines were added to the roster of those for which exports are controlled, including chemicals and communications equipment.

The changes were the first seen to the list in two years, as 2020's catalogue was the same as that of 2019.

Export licensing requirement

On December 31st, 2020, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce released Announcement 2020/75 (hereafter, 'Announcement'), which promulgated the annual list of goods considered 'dual-use', i.e. able to be used for both military and civilian purposes.

In the new list, one item was removed from the list of goods requiring a licence for export.

Specifically, the product was certain types of vacuum pumps classified under tariff line 8414.80.

Import licensing requirement

In December 2020, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce released the catalogue of goods considered 'dual-use' and therefore requiring special licensing to import/export.

Included in the 2021 catalogue of dual-use goods requiring a licence to import were 10 new product lines, including certain organic chemicals and telephony equipment.
