Import tariff

On 21 August 2012, Brazil increased its import tariffs for various IT and telecommunication goods. The measure aims at stimulating the national capacity to innovate and strengthen its IT sector. The product categories affected are:

  • Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) or no break (NCM 8504.40.40) - increase from 14% to 20%
  • memory cards (NCM 8523.51.10) - increase from 0% to 16%
  • printed circuit boards (NCM 8534.00.XX) - increase from 10% to 12%

The measure came into effect on 21 August 2012 and stays in force until 2015.
