On 23 November 2009, Colombia's Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism adopted Decree No. 4551 establishing import quotas on yellow and white corn and soya beans originating from other countries of the Andean Community, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia. Import quotas are set at 2,600,000 tonnes for yellow corn; 123,000 tonnes for white corn; and 300,000 tonnes for soya beans. These import quotas were planned to be effective for 12 months until 30 November 2010.
On 5 August 2010, Colombia's Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism adopted Decree No. 2905 prolonging Decree No. 4551 for another 13 months until 31 December 2010.
