In December 2020, Malaysia announced that the export duty on crude palm oil for January 2021 would be increased from 0% to 8%.

On 22 December 2020, the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) announced that the export duty of palm oil was increased from 0% to 8% after the reference value of the CPO market price reached RM 3,450 (USD 849.5) per tonne. The export duty of palm oil has been exempted from 1 July to 31 December 2020 as part of the PENJANA stimulus package (see related Act).
The rate would be effective from 1 January - 31 January 2021.
