In December 2020, the Ministry of Trade and Industry issued decree no. 642 of 2020 banning the import of Ceramics for three months.

On 23 December 2020, the Ministry of Trade and Industry issues decree no. 642 of 2020 that imposes an import ban on ceramics for a period of three months. The aim of the decision is to protect the local industry from the repercussions of COVID-19. The import ban will be reviewed periodically according to the development of the pandemic.
In this context, Minister of Trade and Industry Neveen Gamae said: "The decision is a part of a raft of measures intended to regulate the import of consumer goods, including ceramics and porcelain, especially during this time of global crisis".
