Anti-dumping

On March 25th, 2009, the Argentinian authorities decided to initiate an anti-dumping investigation on imports of denim from China (Resolution 86/2009, 25/03/2009). The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS codes: 5208.4300, 5210.4910, 5209.4210, 5209.4290, 5211.4210 and 5211.4290. The complaint was lodged by the Chamber of Producers of denim, corduroy and related products (Cámara de Productores de Denim, Corderoy y Afines - Cadeco). The investigation started on the day following the publication of the resolution in the Official Journal of the Argentinian Republic, i.e. on March 31st, 2009.

On November 9th, 2009, the Argentinian authorities decided to impose a provisional anti-dumping duty on imports of denim from China (Resolution 23/2009, 09.11.2009). The duty takes the form of a minimum FOB value of export set at USD 3.13 per linear metre.
This provisional anti-dumping duty entered into force on the day following the publication of the resolution in the Official Journal of the Argentinian Republic, i.e. on November 14th, 2009, and is applicable for a period of four months.

On September 1st, 2010, the Argentinian authorities decided to impose a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of denim from China (Resolution 65/2010, 01.09.2010). The duty continues to take the form of a minimum FOB value of export set at USD 3.13 per linear metre.
This definitive anti-dumping duty entered into force on the day following the publication of the resolution in the Official Journal of the Argentinian Republic, i.e. on September 9th, 2010, and is applicable for a period of five years.

On September 7th, 2015, the Argentinian authorities decided to initiate a sunset review of the anti-dumping measure imposed on imports of denim from China (Resolution 855/2015, 07.09.2015). This follows the request lodged by the Chamber of Producers of denim, corduroy and related products (Cámara de Productores de Denim, Corderoy y Afines - Cadeco). The existing anti-dumping duty imposed by Resolution 65/2010 remains in force during the review.
The investigation started on the day of the publication of the resolution in the Official Journal of the Argentinian Republic, i.e. on September 9th, 2015.
 
On 7 September 2016, the Argentinian authorities extended the existing definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of denim from China following the above sunset review (Resolution 434/2016).The definitive anti-dumping duty is USD 3.93 per linear meter. The duty is extended for a period of five years.
