In December 2020, the Canadian authorities initiated an anti-dumping investigation on imports of certain concrete reinforcing bar from Oman and Russia. In March 2021, a provisional duty was imposed. In July 2021, a definitive duty was imposed.

Anti-dumping

On December 4, 2020, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) initiated an investigation on its own initiative respecting the alleged injurious dumping of certain concrete reinforcing bar from Oman and Russia. The subject goods are usually classified under tariff classification numbers 7213.10.00.00 and 7214.20.00.00; in some instances, imports of the subject goods may also be classified under tariff classification numbers 7215.90.00.90 and 7227.90.00.90.

On 4 March 2021, The Canada Border Services Agency imposed a provisional duty on imports of the subject good from Oman and Russia. The rate of duty on imports from Russia is 45%. The rate of duty on imports from Oman is 8%.

On 5 June 2021, the Canada Border Services Agency imposed a definitive anti-dumping on imports of the subject good from Oman and Russia. The rate of duty on imports from Russia is 45%. The rate of duty on imports from Oman is 8%. The notice imposing definitive duties was published on 4 June 2021.
