On 20 March 2012, the Singapore Customs announced in Circular No. 03/2012 the extension of the temporary import (TI) period from three to six months, effective as of 1 April 2012. The temporary import (TI) period allows goods, except for liquor and tobacco products, to be imported without payment of import duties and the goods and services tax (GST) if they are to be re-exported within six months from the date of importation. Previously, this period was of three months.
