Import tariff

On May 20, 2013, the Government of Argentina introduced reference prices applicable to the importation of certain woven synthetic fabrics from China, South Korea, Taiwan and other Asian countries.

The products subject to this measure are classified under the following tariff lines of the MERCOSUR's Harmonized System: 5601.22.19 and 6005.22.00.

These reference prices entered into force on May 22, 2013.

Argentina introduced reference values of precautionary nature forimported goods in June 2005 (in Spanish: valores criterio de carácterpreventivo). The stated purpose is to strengthen customs control andprevent under-invoicing. Importers are required to provide guaranteesfor the difference in duties and taxes if the declared price of animport is lower than its reference price (see 7th GTA Report and 2014 National Trade Estimate Report).A list with all current import reference prices can be consulted under:www.afip.gov.ar/aduana/valoracion/valores.criterios.pdf <U+200E>
