On May 17, 2013, the Government of Argentina adopted reference prices applicable to the importation of certain woven artificial fabrics from China, India, South Korea, Singapore and other Asian countries. The product in question is classified under the following tariff line of MERCOSUR's Harmonized System:5516.12.00.
These reference prices entered into force on May 21, 2013.
Argentina introduced reference values of precautionary nature forimported goods in June 2005 (in Spanish: valores criterio de carácterpreventivo). The stated purpose is to strengthen customs controlandprevent under-invoicing. Importers are required to provideguaranteesfor the difference in duties and taxes if the declaredprice of animport is lower than its reference price (see 7th GTA Report and 2014 National Trade Estimate Report).A list with all current import reference prices can be consulted under:www.afip.gov.ar/aduana/valoracion/valores.criterios.pdf <U+200E>
