On 5 November 2010, the parliament of Namibia adopted the Banking Institutions Amendment Act No. 14 of 2010 authorising foreign banking institutions to establish branches in the country.
The Amendment in Section 19A(Act 14 of 2010) allowes for the entry of :
An institution which has been incorporated in a country other than Namibia and which lawfully conducts in such other country a business similar to banking business (hereinafter referred to as the foreign institution)
