The Brazilian government changed the list of auto-parts not-locally produced subject to a reduced import tariff.

Import tariff

On 25 August 2020, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Chamber (Camex) issued Resolution Nº 80 adding 232 products to the list of auto-parts not locally manufactured affecting 87 eight-digits tariff lines. As a result, the import duties on the affected goods were decreased to 2%.

According to the WTO tariff download facility the previously applicable import duties ranged between 5% and 18% depending on the product.

The new lists of products were added to CAMEX Resolution 23 adopted in December 2019 and GECEX Resolution Nº 58 adopted in June 2020 (please, see related state acts).

Resolution Nº 80 was published on the Official Gazette on 27 August 2020 and entered into force on 1 September 2020.

Import tariff

Resolution Nº 80 adopted by the Brazilian Foreign Trade Chamber (Camex) on 25 August 2020 also removed two products from the list of auto-parts not locally manufactured.

The products affected were classified under tariff subheadings NCM 8708.91.00 and 8708.70.90. As a result of the changes introduced, the import duties on the affected goods were increased from 2% to 18% and 16% respectively according to the information from the WTO tariff download facility.

Notably, the changes introduced affect CAMEX Resolution Nº 8 of 30 January 2020 and Resolution Nº 58 of 22 June 2020 (please, see related state acts).

Resolution Nº 80 entered into force on 1 September 2020.
