Import licensing requirement

On 25 August 2020, Indonesia issued the Minister of Trade Regulation (MOT) No.68/2020 to introduce import licensing requirement for the footwear, electronics, and bicycles. The goal was to reduce imports of these commodities to Indonesia. Previously, under the Ministry of Trade regulation 87/M-DAG/PER/10/2015, the importers of footwear and electronics were only requested to submit the Surveyor Report (LS) (see related Act). There was no regulation for the import of bicycles. With the enactment of MOT 68/2020, importers of these commodities are now required to have an Import Approval (PI) and LS to meet the import requirements as set out in this regulation.

The regulation came into force on 28 August 2020.
