Internal taxation of imports

On 24 August 2020, Indonesia issued the Government Regulation No. 48/2020 to exempt the value-added tax (VAT) on the import of fish. The VAT was reduced from 10 percent to 0 percent.

This VAT exemption is an extension of Indonesia VAT exemption on several "Strategic Goods" that was regulated by the Government Regulation No. 81/2015 (see related state act). 

The regulation came into force on 24 August 2020.
