Trade finance

On 18 March 2013, the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Bancolumbia S.A., the major commercial Bank in Columbia, for the exchange of information on future collaboration in financing.
The two banks will collaborate for supporting the financing of Japanese exports of machinery and equipment to Colombia.
The JBIC reported that 'this MOU is expected to contribute to the expansion of Japanese companies' business opportunities in Columbia'.
The JBIC is a public financial institution and export credit agency created on 1 October 1999 through the merger of the Japan Export-Import Bank and the Overseas Economic Cooperation Fund.
