On August 17, 2012, the Pakistani authorities initiated an anti-dumping investigation on imports of phtalic anhydride from Iran, Italy and Thailand.
The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS code: 2917.3500. The dumping is suspected to have occurred between April 1, 2011 and June 30, 2012.
On February 7, 2013, the Pakistani authorities made a preliminary determination of dumping. The dumping margin for imports originating in Iran is 8.37%. The dumping margin for imports originating in Italy is 13.69%. The dumping margin for imports originating in Thailand is 10.62%. However, no provisional duty was imposed.
On August 5, 2013, the Pakistani authorities imposed a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of phtalic anhydride from Iran, Italy and Thailand. The rate of the duty for imports originating in Iran is 7.62%. The rate of the duty for imports originating in Italy is 12.91%. The rate of the duty for imports originating in Thailand is 9.78%.
