In September 2011, the government of India initiated a sunset review and extended the definitive antidumping duty in November 2012. In November, a sunset review was initiated.

Anti-dumping

On 2 September 2011, the Indian Government initiated a sunset review investigation on caustic soda from Saudi Arabia, Iran, Japan, USA and France. The HS codes in question are 2815.1100 and 2815.1200.

On 26 November 2012, the country decided to extend the anti-dumping measures in force for an additional period of five years. The rate of duty on imports from the United States is 55.96 per dry metric tonne. The rate of duty on imports from Iran is USD 1.34 or 8.75 per dry metric tonne depending on the company. The rate of duty on imports from Saudi Arabia is USD 130.60 or 133.60 per dry metric tonne depending on the company. The definitive antidumping duty was not extended on imports from France and Japan and thus expired on 26 November 2012.
 
On 22 January 2016, the Indian Directorate General of Anti-dumping & Allied Duties, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, initiated a mid-term review of the anti-dumping duty on imports of Caustic Soda originating in or exported from Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United States. This investigation follows the application lodged by the Alkali Manufacturers Association of India. The review will examine the quantum of anti-dumping duty in force against of the above-mentioned goods in view of the domestic industry's statements of changed circumstances. The duty will remain in force until it is terminated or expires as of November 2017.

On 23 August 2017, the Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue amended the definitive antidumping duty imposed on imports from Saudi Arabia and Iran following the conclusion of the above mid-term review.The rate of duty on imports from Saudi Arabia is USD 16.24 per dry metric tonne. The rate of duty on imports from Iran is USD 9.75 per dry metric tonne.

On 20 November 2017, the Indian authorities initiated a sunset review of the definitive antidumping duty imposed on imports of the subject good from Saudi Arabia and the United States. This follows the application lodged by Alkali
Manufacturers’ Association of India.

On 24 November 2017, in connection with the above sunset review, the Indian Ministry of Finance issued the Customs Notification extending the definitive antidumping duty on imports of the subject good from Saudi Arabia and the United States for one year i.e. until 25 November 2018.
