Price stabilisation

On 29 July 2020, the Turkish Grain Board (TGB) announced the 2020 corn purchase prices. According to the announcement, the TGB will purchase corn at a base price of TRY 1,324 (USD 189.9) per tonne. Previously, in 2019, the TGB purchase price for corn was TRY 1,150 (USD 164.9) per tonne (see related state act).

According to TGB, the total production of corn is expected to reach 6.5 million tonnes in 2020 compared to 6 million tonnes in 2019.

The TGB has pursued a price support policy for corn since 2008 in order to prevent the price fluctuations and sharp decreases of domestic prices below the normal level for producers.
