Import tariff

Effective from May 1, 2013, Uzbekistan has announced import tariff increases on a number of foodstuffs. The products involved are:

  • Meat products (from 50% to 70%),
  • Pasta (from 20% to 30%),
  • Fruits and vegetables (excl. fresh vegetables, from 30% to 50%),
  • Fresh vegetables (duties introduced, 10% for potatoes and peas, and 30% for onions and garlic),
  • Beer (from 70% to 100%), and
  • Cigarettes (from US$ 18 to US$ 40 per 1000 cigarettes).

The measure was introduced by Presidential Resolution no. PP-1961 'On additional measures on increasing production and expansion of assortment of consumer goods', issued on April 30, 2013.
