State loan

On 22 July 2020, the European Investment Bank (EIB) signed a EUR 450 million (approx. USD 520.5 million) credit line for Portuguese SMEs and midcaps. The financial intermediary is Banco Santander Consumer Portugal.

The loan will finance, particularly through loans and leases, the implementation of measures aiming to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in Portugal. The main beneficiaries will be SMEs and midcaps affected by the pandemic.

A state act in the GTA database is assessed solely in terms of the extent to which its implementation affects foreign commercial interests. On this metric, the loan granted here is discriminatory.
