The Brazilian government announced the temporary elimination of import tariffs set on 8 medicines medical supplies and equipment needed to combat the Coronavirus pandemic.

Import tariff

On 17 June 2020, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Chamber (CAMEX) adopted Resolution 51, approving the elimination of import duties on 8 products enclosed in 5 eight-digits tariff lines to fight the Coronavirus pandemic.

The new list of products has been added to CAMEX Resolution 17 adopted in March 2020 and apply for the duration of that legislation (please, see related state act).

The list of affected products includes medicines as well as certain medical supplies and equipment.

According to the WTO tariff download facility, the previously applicable tariffs ranged between 3.5% and 22% depending on the product.

Resolution 51 entered into force on 23 June 2020 and applies until 30 September 2020.

 
Update
On 10 July 2020, Camex adopted Resolution 67 revoking the duty-free import tariff on Ex-tarifário 005 of NCM 2933.49.90. The new import duty entered into force on 17 July 2020 (please, see related state act).
 
On 16 September 2020, the Executive Committee of the Brazilian Foreign Trade Chamber (GECEX) adopted Resolution Nº 89 extending the duration of this regulation until 30 October 2020.
 
On 20 October 2020, the Executive Committee of the Brazilian Foreign Trade Chamber issued Resolution Nº 104 extending the application of Camex Resolution Nº 17 and its amendments until 31 December 2020.
 
On 24 December 2020, the Executive Committee of the Brazilian Foreign Trade Chamber issued Resolution Nº 133 extending the application of Camex Resolution Nº 17 and its amendments until 30 June 2021.
