Import licensing requirement

On 2 April 2020, the government of Botswana issued the statutory instrument No. 61 of 2020 restricting the import of essential supplies only to the licensed suppliers. The decision is introduced as a response to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Notably, essential supplies include antiseptics, disinfectants, face masks, soap, surgical gloves and etc. The government also imposed quantitative restrictions on domestic sales of the essential supplies.
