Sri Lanka has reduced the Special Commodity Levy on the imports of Jack and Horse Mackerel.

On 22 May 2020, Sri Lanka through Extraordinary Gazette No. 2176/20 reduced the Special Commodity Levy on the imports of Jack and Horse mackerel (Trachurus spp.) under HS chapter 0303.55 from 10% or Rs. 150 (~USD 0.81) per kg. whichever is higher to Rs. 6 (~USD 0.03) per kg.
The reduced levy will be applicable for a period of 3 months starting on 22 May 2020.
The Special Commodity Levy is a composite levy imposed on imports. While the SCL is levied, no other duties or taxes will be levied on the import of such goods.
