ANNOUNCEMENT 23 Apr 2020

On 23 April 2020, Uzbekistan's prime minister prohibited exports of non-woven materials used in the production of medical masks and imports of cement. The measures were taken in the framework of the fight against the COVID-19 outbreak. On 22 May, the import ban on cement was terminated.

Export ban

On 23 April 2020, Uzbekistan's prime minister prohibited exports of non-woven materials used in the production of medical masks. The measure is taken to ensure domestic supply of medical masks during the Coronavirus pandemic.

The ban is in force between 1 May 2020 and 1 January 2021 and includes the HS codes 5603 12 1000, 5603 11 9000, 5603 91 9000, 5603 12 9000 and 5911 40 0000.

Import ban

On 23 April 2020, Uzbekistan's prime minister prohibited imports of cement, to ensure demand for locally produced cement during the Coronavirus outbreak.

Initially the ban was set to be in force between 1 May 2020 and 1 January 2021, but was discontinued on 22 May (effective 23 May).
