Import tariff

On 1 April 2020, the Council of Ministers of Iraq announced introducing additional customs duties on mushrooms and gypsum to support the domestic industry. The decision is taken in the meeting where the Cabinet discussed the efforts to combat the Coronavirus pandemic and the measures to alleviate the adverse effects of the pandemic in the economy.

More specifically, the council of ministers decided to impose an additional customs duty of 75% on mushrooms classified under the tariff subheading 07095100 for a period of 4 years without reduction. The council of ministers also decided to impose additional customs duties of 125% on gypsum classified under the tariff subheadings 25301010 and 25201020 for a period of 2 years without reduction. Effective customs duties on mushrooms and gypsum are 10% and 15% respectively.

The additional duties will enter into force after 120 days from the date of issuance of the decision.
