Import tariff

On 5 May 2020, the European Commission issued Regulation No. 2020/615, imposing an import duty on maize, sorghum and rye. The import duty was increased from EUR 5.27 (USD 5.71)  to EUR 10.40 (USD 11.27) per tonne. The products subject to import duties are classified under HS code subheadings 1002.10.00, 1002.90.00, 1005.10.90, 1005.90.00, 1007.10.90 and 1007.90.00.

The import duty is imposed following the implementation of a flexible mechanism for import tariffs on grain imports (wheat, rye, maize and sorghum) in August 2010, see related state act.
