Import quota

On April 5, 2013, Namibia's Ministry for Trade and Industry gazetted Notice no. 81/2013 introducing a Poultry Marketing Scheme. The most salient part of this scheme is the introduction of import quota for poultry.
 
As of May 6, 2013, the Notice takes effect. Importers will need ministerial permission to import poultry products. Such permissions will be issued only until the monthly quota of 600 tonnes has been reached. Imports of poultry products that are also produced in Namibia will be banned altogether. Previously, all imports of chicken products were free of quota.onthlyimport quota of 600 tonnes.
