Import tariff

On 28 March 2020, the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Peru adopted Supreme Decree Nº 059-2020-EF extending the duty-free imports adopted in response to the Coronavirus pandemic earlier in March (please, see related state acts).

Among the products introduced to the list are rubber gloves, ethyl alcohol, face masks and protective goggles. In total, 12 new ten-digits tariff lines have been added to this list, reaching a total of 77 products.

According to the legislation, the previously applicable import tariffs ranged between 6% and 11%.

The new tariffs apply while the Sanitary Emergency is in force. According to Supreme Decree Nº 008-2020-SA, the Sanitary Emergency was initially set for 90 days starting on 11 March 2020.

On 04 June 2020, through Supreme Decree Nº 020-2020-SA, the Sanitary Emergency was extended for an additional 90 days starting on 10 June 2020.
