Import tariff

On 3 May 2013, the Vietnamese Prime Minister issued Decision No. 24/2013, that further increases the duties on "less than 9-seat used car" imports. The duty has now been increased to 5,000 USD/unit for cars with engine capacity less than 1,000cc and to 10,000 USD/unit for cars with less than 1,500cc engine capacity. The respective values are increased from $4200 and $9600 respectively as read below. 

This decision comes into enforcement from 20 June 2013. 
 
 
On 15 March 2013, the Ministry of Finance of Viet Nam announced to increase import duties on used cars with less than 9-seats. In particular, the duty will be increased from US$3500 to US$4200 for cars with a cylinder capacity lower than 1000cc, and from US$8000 to US$9600 for those with a cylinder capacity between 1000 and 1500cc respectively.
 
The amendments were published in the Circular No. 28/2013/TT-BTC and will enter into force on 29 April 2013.
