The Brazilian government announced the temporary elimination of import tariffs set on 54 medical and hospital products needed to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

Import tariff

On 26 March 2020, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Chamber (Camex) issued Resolution No. 22 eliminating the import tariffs on 54 medical and hospital products.

According to the WTO database, previous applicable duties ranged between 0.67% and 35% depending on the product. 

Resolution No. 22 was introduced in response to the COVID-19 outbreak and sums up to a previous list of 50 goods subject to 0% import duties (please, see related state acts).

The new import duty has entered into force on 26 March 2020 and applies until 30 September 2020.

 
Update
On 16 September 2020, the Executive Committee of the Brazilian Foreign Trade Chamber (GECEX) adopted Resolution Nº 89 extending the duration of this resolution until 30 October 2020.
