The Brazilian government amended the list of products enclosed in the not-locally produced auto-parts scheme. As a consequence, the import duties set on 19 products were increased.

Import tariff

On 30 January 2020, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Chamber (Camex) issued Resolution No 9 increasing the applicable import duties on 19 products enclosed in 7 eight-digits tariff lines. The affected products are related to the regime of auto-parts not produced in the country. 

According to the WTO tariff download facility, the import duties have been reset at values ranging between 11.05% and 18% depending on the product. The previously applicable import tariffs were set at 2%. 

The new legislation entered into force on 10 February 2020.

On 22 June 2020, Camex adopted Resolution 58 amending the list of auto parts affected by Resolution Nº 9 (please, see related state act).
