Import tariff

In a decision published in the December 11, 2019 edition of Customs Bulletin and Decisions, U.S. Customs and Border Protection proposed that hard-sided coolers be reclassified from various other items to HTSUS 4202.12.2120 (20% duty). That is higher than all of the rates applying to the items under which these goods were previously imported, including HTSUS 9403.70.4031 (duty-free), 9403.70.8031 (duty-free), 3923.10.90 (3.4%), and 3924.10.4000 (3.4%). The change will be effective with respect to goods entered or withdrawn from warehouse for consumption on or after February 10, 2020.
