Import tariff

On 1 April, 2012, Sri Lanka has raised the import duties on different categories of automobiles like passenger cars, three-wheelers and two wheelers. The duties have been doubled in certain cases like in the case of passenger cars, the duty band of 120-291% was raised to 200-350%, duties on three wheelers were raised from 51-61% to 100% and in case of two-wheelers from 61% to 100%. Furthermore, import duties on beer were raised by Rs.50 per litre.
