On 1 January 2013, the export duty on crude palm oil was removed for the month of January following the introduction of a new export duty structure.
The new "Crude Palm Oil Export Duty Structure" was introduced by the Malaysian government on 1 January 2013. The export duty is set according to the prevailing FOB price of crude palm oil falling under HS code subheading 1511.10.100. A duty is applied on exports of the subject good when the price is RM 2,250 (USD 735.78) per tonne or above. The export duty ranges between 4.5% and 8.5% depending on the crude palm oil FOB price. The export duty on palm oil was 19.19% prior to January 2013.
On 31 January 2013, the Malaysian government issued P.U. (A) 20/2013 extending the duty-free period until the end of February.
