Labour market access

On 2 January 2013, Citizenship and Immigration started implementing the new Federal Skilled Trades program, which is designed to provide permanent residence to skilled workers in designated occupational areas. The applicants must qualifiy for the eligible occupations (including at least two years of work experience in the occupation within the last three years) and demonstrate a basic language proficiency in either English or French.
