On 1 November 2019, the Finance Ministry of Argentina has adopted Disposition 290/2019 increasing the price of sugarcane-based and maize-based ethanol used in fuel blendings for automobiles.
The new prices have increased from ARS 27.203 per litre to ARS 28.845 per litre (from USD 0.455 to USD 0.483 at the time of the announcement) in the case of sugarcane-based ethanol. As for maize-based ethanol, the price has increased from ARS 24.635 per litre to ARS 26.606 per litre (USD 0.412 to USD 0.445 at the time of the announcement).
Due to a local content requirement imposed via Decree 543/2016 (please, see related state acts), the changes in the prices of bioethanol that are compulsorily included in automobile fuels produced in Argentina, suggests that this type of interventions are intended as a price support to domestic ethanol producers.
The new prices apply as of 1 November 2019.
