The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (Public Law 111-5) was an omnibus spending measure that included numerous Buy American provisions as well as authority for administering agencies to waive those requirements in certain circumstances. On June 24, 2011 the Department of Housing and Urban Development granted such a waiver to the Medford Housing Authority of Medford, MA for the purchase and installation of side-opening, Uniform Federal Accessibility Standards (UFAS)-compliant ovens for the LaPrise Village project.
