On 13 September 2012, the European parlament decided to temporarily abolish the import duties on multiple textile products originating in Pakistan. This decision is based on Regulation EC 552/2010 and is slightly modified with respect to the affected tariff lines. The measure will stay into force until the end of 2013 and is part of the aid for the recovery from the heavy floods in 2010.
The measure generally distinguishes between two forms of duty reliefs. The first category is a complete abolition, while the second one is bound to a maximum quantity, hence a "soft" quota.
