Export ban

On 29 September 2019, the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry through Notification NO. 21/2015-2020 prohibited the export of onions "till further orders". The export ban has been announced to control the domestic price rise of onions.

A Minimum Export Price of USD 850 on onions was announced on 13 September 2019 for the same purpose (see related State Act).

All export restrictions on onions, including the current amendment, have been withdrawn from 15 March 2020. The amendment was announced through Notification No. 49/2015-2020.
