On 3 October 2012, authorities in the UAE have stopped issuing all kinds of entry permits for Bangladeshi nationals. Major General, Nasser Al Awadi Al Menhali (Assistant Undersecretary for Naturalisation and Residency and Ports Affairs at the Ministry of Interior), said that the suspension of issuing visas is not permanent and is not a ban.
To date, no official document is available, but all major press agencies in the Gulf region have reported this measure. The official document will be added to this report once available.
Rumors of a ban on Bangladeshi nationals also arose in early August, but the Ministry of Interior promptly published a note contradicting them. No such notice was published on this occasion.
