Safeguard

On 14 August 2019, the Indian authorities initiated a safeguard investigation on imports of refined bleached deodorised palm oil and palmolein from Malaysia. The products subject to investigation are classified under HS code subheadings 1511.90.10 and 1511.90.20. This follows an application lodged by Solvent Extractors’ Association of India on behalf of the domestic industry. Notably, the safeguard investigation is initiated under the 2017 rules of the India-Malaysia Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement.
