Export tax

On 13 September 2019, the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry through Notification No. 19/2015-2020 imposed a Minimum Export Price of USD 850 Free On Board per Metric Ton on exports of all varieties of onions. Further, the exports will be allowed against a Letter of Credit.

The MEP restriction was last imposed in November 2017 and withdrawn in February 2018 (see related State Act).

All export restrictions on onions, including the current amendment, have been withdrawn from 15 March 2020. The amendment was announced through Notification No. 49/2015-2020.
