On 14 October 2012, Saudi Arabia plans to amend its sponsorship of migrants system. The original system requires all unskilled migrant workers to have a sponsor (usually their employer) in Saudi Arabia. The sponsor is responsible for the worker's visa and legal status. With the amendment, a sponsor is allowed to lend the migrant worker to another sponsor. This change simplifies the visa application procedure for migrant workers that already work in Saudi Arabia and change their employer.
