On July 12, 2019 Act 275 became law over the opposition of the governor of Hawaii. The purpose of this act is to increase the annual cap on the motion picture, digital media, and film production income tax credit. Existing law had provided that the total amount of tax credits allowed in any particular year shall be $35,000,000; the bill expanded that to $50,000,000.
