In September 2019, the Jordanian authorities initiated a safeguard investigation on imports of certain potato chips and other prepared and preserved potato. The investigation is still in progress.

On 1 September 2019, the Jordanian authorities initiated a safeguard investigation on imports of potato chips or potato prepared or preserved without vinegar or acetic acids and non-frozen. The products subject to investigation are respectively classified under HS code subheadings 218.104.22.168 and 2005.20.90. This follows an application lodged by the domestic industry.
