In September 2019, the Jordanian authorities initiated a safeguard investigation on imports of certain potato chips and other prepared and preserved potato. The investigation was terminated without the imposition of duties in May 2020.

On 1 September 2019, the Jordanian authorities initiated a safeguard investigation on imports of potato chips or potato prepared or preserved without vinegar or acetic acids and non-frozen. The products subject to investigation are respectively classified under HS code subheadings 2184.108.40.206 and 2005.20.90. This follows an application lodged by the domestic industry.
On 14 May 2020, the Jordanian authorities notified the WTO's Committee on Safeguards the issuance of the Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply of its decision to terminate the safeguards investigation on imports of the subject good without the imposition of safeguard duties.
