Import ban

On 20 April 2012, the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism approved a general provision concerning the supply of biodiesel in Spain. According to the provision, biodiesel can only be imported if it is refined in a EU-based company and if the company has applied to receive an importation quota from the Spanish government.

The measure was supposed to enter into force on 20 October 2012. However, on 16 October 2012, the ministry published a second provision announcing that the new system will not be implemented.
