Import tariff

On 12 July 2019, the SARS has adopted Notice R. 985 establishing a temporary full rebate on certain distributors and ignition coils used in motor vehicles engines. The affected goods are classified under tariff subheading 8511.30.30.

Previously to this decision, the general import duty on this product was set at 15%.

This measure has been the result of an investigation carried out by the International Trade Administration Commission who after confirming that there was no local production of these goods, recommended on its Report No. 568 the elimination of the import tariff.

The new changes do not affect the EU and SADC countries as they already enjoyed a full rebate.
