Import tariff quota

On 6 April 2017, the government of Turkey introduced an import tariff quota on wallpaper and similar wallcoverings classified in the Turkish Customs Tariff Schedule under the customs tariff codes 4814.20.00.00.00, 4814.90.10.00.00 and 4814.90.70.10.00. The import tariff quota provides an exemption from the safeguard measure imposed on the subject product (see related state act) within a tariff quota of 2,700 tonnes for the first year (6 August 2016 – 5 August 2017) and 2970 tonnes for the second year (6 August 2016 – 5 August 2017) to the imported products which have a CIF value of 5 USD per kilogram or above. As a result of this Decree being issued, wallpaper and similar wallcoverings that previously paid the safeguard duty of 4.5 USD per kilogram for the first year and 4 USD per kilogram for the second year now are exempt from the safeguard measure.

On 8 January 2019, the government of Turkey extended the import tariff quota from the safeguard measure for three more years until 5 August 2021 with 2970 tonnes of import tariff quota for each year.
